How Much Does an Epoxy Patio Cost in Pennsylvania?

Published 2026 figures put a professionally installed patio coating at roughly $3 to $12 per square foot. A Kansas City coating installer gives $3 to $12 installed. A 2026 cost site gives about $4 to $12, with a common mid-range around $8. A flooring guides site gives $5 to $12 for professional multi-layer flake systems with anti-slip topcoats.

A Reading, Pennsylvania coating installer publishes $6 to $8 per square foot installed. That covers grinding, crack repair and its flake coating with a UV-stable topcoat. On its price page, a 200 to 600 square foot patio comes to $1,200 to $4,800. These are market numbers from published guides and other installers, not our price list.

SF Huling installs patio and porch coatings across Central Pennsylvania: flake coatings on concrete patios, porches and entry steps.

What does an epoxy patio cost per square foot?

Every installed price in the table below falls between $3 and $12 per square foot. The cost site ties the total to coating type, surface condition and any color chips or textures.

Kind of sourceInstalled price per sq ftWhat it covers
A Kansas City coating installer, April 2026$3 to $12Patio coatings, by product and prep
A 2026 cost site$4 to $12, mid-range about $8Epoxy patio projects
A flooring guides site, June 2026$5 to $12Multi-layer flake systems with anti-slip topcoats
The same guides site$3 to $7A quality epoxy system
A Reading, Pennsylvania installer$6 to $8Grinding, crack repair, flake and a UV-stable topcoat
A Cleveland, Ohio installer$8 to $10, with a $2,000 minimumConcrete patio epoxy coating

None of these is a Central Pennsylvania price list. The cost site’s figures assume standard concrete, normal access and Midwest or similar labor rates.

What does a 200 to 400 square foot patio cost?

For a 200 to 400 square foot slab, the 2026 cost site says to expect roughly $800 to $4,800. Its worked example for a 300 square foot patio runs $1,200 to $3,600, with $2,400 as the average. At the guides site’s $5 to $12, a 200 square foot patio comes to roughly $1,000 to $2,400. A 400 square foot patio comes to roughly $2,000 to $4,800.

Small patios can hit a minimum charge. The Cleveland installer quotes $8 to $10 per square foot with a $2,000 minimum. At those rates a 200 square foot patio would come to $1,600 to $2,000, so the minimum sets the price.

Can you epoxy a patio?

Yes, with the right system. Standard epoxy can yellow and chalk in sunlight, the guides site says. An epoxy patio is also slippery when wet unless a texture is added.

On a fully exposed slab, the same site calls a UV-stable topcoat a must. A covered porch out of direct sun is easier on epoxy. For sun and snow, the site points to a UV-stable system, most often a polyaspartic topcoat over an epoxy base. Our post on epoxy vs polyaspartic compares the two.

Flake systems add texture, slip resistance and a speckled look that hides dirt and pollen, the guides site says. Our outdoor work is a flake coating with a clear topcoat chosen for sun, rain and freeze-thaw. Inside garages and basements, we install flake epoxy floors.

What are the options for a concrete patio?

A Kansas City coating installer prices three options for a 200 square foot patio:

Option on a 200 sq ft patioPublished price
Acrylic sealer$200 to $600, paid again every 2 to 3 years
Standard epoxy$600 to $1,400
Polyurea or polyaspartic system$1,400 to $2,400
  • Paint or an acrylic sealer. This is the low-cost route, and it wears fast. The Kansas City installer says acrylic and latex coatings last 2 to 3 years at best.
  • Standard epoxy. The guides site puts a quality epoxy system at $3 to $7 per square foot installed. It does best on a covered porch out of direct sun.
  • A flake system with a UV-stable topcoat. This is the guides site’s $5 to $12 tier. A fully exposed slab needs that kind of topcoat.

Why does prep decide whether a patio coating lasts?

A flooring contractor’s 2026 guide names unground or contaminated concrete as the most common cause of epoxy floor failure. A national cost guide notes that epoxy cannot bond properly to a wet slab or in high humidity.

If water beads up on the slab, an old sealer is present, the Kansas City installer says. The guides site’s moisture check is a plastic sheet taped to the concrete overnight. Condensation under it means moisture is moving up, and a coating may fail.

Before a coating goes down, we do the concrete grinding and floor prep. Diamond grinding takes off old coatings, sealer and surface dirt so the new coat can grip. Minor cracks and spalls get filled as part of that prep.

Removing an existing coating or repairing cracks adds $1.00 to $3.00 per square foot, the cost site says. The Reading installer says heavy cracking, old coating removal or elevated moisture add to its price.

What does winter do to a patio coating in Central Pennsylvania?

A Cleveland, Ohio installer says patios face direct sun, rain, snow, freeze-thaw cycles and temperature swings. That is why it says outdoor systems need mechanical prep and protective topcoats. The Reading installer says spring shows what winter did. It lists new cracks, salt staining and old coatings that did not make it.

Water does the damage. Moisture trapped under a coating expands when it freezes and pushes the film off the slab, the guides site says. A yearly look catches small chips before water gets under the coating.

Winter care is simple. The guides site says to use a plastic shovel rather than a metal blade. It also says to skip harsh de-icing salts, which can attack some coatings and the concrete beneath.

What about porches, steps and walkways?

Front porches, entry steps, landings and walkways take the same kind of system as a patio. Step edges and risers take more hand work than an open slab. The Cleveland installer lists stairs among the spaces that take longer to prep and coat.

A covered porch is the easier case, since it sits out of direct sun. Open steps take sun and rain, so grip matters most there. The guides site calls anti-slip texture important on a wet outdoor surface.

Is a DIY patio kit worth it?

A kit costs less up front. DIY epoxy or polyaspartic patio kit materials run about $2 to $5 per square foot, the guides site says.

The same site calls epoxy kits doable but less forgiving. The resin has a limited working time, and the slab needs thorough grinding for the coating to stick. A botched coating must be ground off and redone, which erases any savings.

How do you get a price for your patio or porch?

Your price depends on the size of the slab, its condition and what is on it now. SF Huling is based in Lock Haven and backed by 30 years of commercial flooring experience. We look at the concrete before we put a number on it.
