Epoxy flooring in Danville, PA often starts with an old slab. Many basement floors here sit under homes built before 1980, and plenty carry layers of old paint and patches. Every winter, slush and road salt ride into the garage on your tires. Downtown, older shop and office floors often hide tile or glue that has to come up first.
SF Huling is based in Lock Haven and backed by about 30 years of commercial flooring experience. Epoxy floor coating is our main service, with flake and metallic systems for homes and businesses in Danville. Floor demolition is our second line, and concrete grinding and floor prep gets an old slab ready for its coating. Call or text (570) 772-2721 for a free estimate.

Much of Danville's housing is old. Census Bureau estimates show the median home in the borough was built in 1960. About a third of homes in the borough were built before 1940. Only about 6 in 100 homes were built in 2000 or later.
About three in four homes were built before 1980. In homes this age, basement slabs and garage floors often carry decades of paint, patches, glue and old tile. That is why grinding and prep come first. Grinding takes the slab back to bare concrete, the surface a coating can bond to.
Old 9 by 9 tile or black glue in a house this age gets tested before anyone grinds it. Our post on asbestos floor tile removal in Pennsylvania explains that step.
Census Bureau estimates also show about 6 in 10 occupied homes are rented. When an apartment turns over, owners and landlords want a floor that cleans up fast between tenants. A coated concrete floor in a basement unit or laundry room wipes clean with a mop.
Danville sits along the North Branch of the Susquehanna River. Here, as everywhere we work, a basement slab gets a moisture check before any coating goes down. Epoxy cannot bond properly when the slab is wet or exposed to high humidity.
Clean, bare concrete matters just as much. A flooring contractor's guide names coating unground or contaminated concrete as the single most common cause of epoxy floor failure. So before any basement floor epoxy goes down, we grind the slab to clean concrete. Minor cracks get filled as part of that prep.
A tan full-flake floor in a finished basement is part of our own installed work. In Danville's older homes, a seamless coating turns a dusty concrete floor into one that mops clean.
Through a Danville winter, snow, road salt and grit ride into the garage on your tires. Meltwater spreads across bare concrete and soaks in. Older garage floors here often carry old paint, oil stains and patches as well.
We grind all of that off first. On the freshly ground slab, garage floor epoxy forms one seamless surface. Meltwater sits on top of the coating, and a mop takes it up. Our installed work includes gray full-flake floors in two-car garages.
For a garage, flake epoxy floors are a strong match. We broadcast colored flakes into the base coat until it is fully covered, then add a durable clear topcoat. An older home's concrete front porch and steps can take a coating too, with our porch and step coatings.
By the mid-1800s, Danville was an important iron mill town. The main street is still named Mill Street, and the town holds an Iron Heritage Festival every July. The Danville Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places. So is the Danville West Market Street Historic District.
Montour County was formed in 1850, with Danville as its county seat. Danville is also the home of Geisinger Medical Center, whose hospital was completed in 1915. Today Geisinger is one of the largest employers in the region. US 11 runs through town, and Interstate 80 has an exit to the north.
Older storefront, office and rental floors downtown often carry tile, vinyl tile or glued-down flooring. All of it must come up before a coating goes down, and tile removal is often the first step. Then commercial epoxy flooring gives a shop or office a tough, seamless floor.
