Plenty of people here drive US 220 to work in Williamsport or Lock Haven. In winter that means a wet, salty vehicle parked over the slab every night. Garage floor paint from a big-box store rarely holds up to it. Hot tires pull it off in strips.
A garage floor epoxy system starts with the concrete, not the color. We diamond grind the slab so the coating grabs the open pores instead of sitting on top. Minor cracks and spalls get filled during that same prep.
Then comes the base coat, the flake broadcast and a durable clear topcoat. You wait for the floor to cure before walking on it, and longer before parking on it. One-car, two-car and three-car garages all run the same way.
The Jersey Shore Historic District covers 286 contributing buildings inside the borough. Most of them went up between 1830 and 1860, and the district joined the National Register in 1975. Cellar floors under houses that old were never poured to be looked at.
A basement floor coating seals that surface so it stops shedding dust. It also bounces light around, which helps in a low basement with small windows. Rec rooms, laundry rooms, workshops and storage areas all come out brighter.
Moisture is the first thing to check. Concrete is porous, and ground water moves up through a slab as vapor. After the tear-out, the slab gets ground flat and opened up. That leaves it ready for a coating or for new flooring another trade installs. We remove floors and coat concrete. New tile, carpet and wood come from another trade.
