The Milton Historic District covers about 101 acres and 719 contributing buildings. Fire in 1880 cleared most of what stood before it. What went up after is a town of late Victorian and early 1900s houses. The basements under them are old.
Those slabs are rarely flat. Some were poured in sections over many years. Others carry old paint that is peeling off in sheets. Grinding levels the high spots and opens the concrete so a coating can grip it.
Basement floor epoxy holds up better than the basement floor paint sold in a can. A light color also spreads the ceiling light around a dark cellar. Flake adds grip underfoot and hides the patchwork below. Water pushing through walls or footers belongs to a different trade.
Milton sits at the top of PA 147, where that freeway meets Interstate 80 and becomes Interstate 180. Exit 212 is the Milton exit, and US 15 runs across the river at West Milton. Winter road salt rides home on tires and drips onto the garage floor.
